April is designated National Volunteer Month, and while we celebrate our volunteers during our annual Volunteer Appreciation Brunch, we are grateful for them all year long.
Volunteers play vital roles in organizations, institutions, and events across the world—and here at the Museum of Making Music, they are essential to our daily operations. From warmly welcoming visitors to setting the stage for each guest’s experience, our volunteers help bring the museum to life. They share our stories with depth and enthusiasm, drawing from both their training and their own lived experiences.
Many of our volunteers are musicians, while others are passionate music enthusiasts. Regardless of their background, each brings something unique, and their collective impact is truly immeasurable. Whether greeting guests at the front desk, leading student and adult tours, serving as gallery attendants, or supporting special events, our volunteers are the cornerstone of our organization and make this museum a truly special place.
Visitors quickly recognize how exceptional our volunteers are. Every day, we hear heartfelt thanks from guests who appreciate the important work they do.
We are currently recruiting our next class of volunteers and are looking for a small group of individuals to join our volunteer team. If you’re interested in learning more and seeing if this opportunity is a good fit, we invite you to attend an orientation meeting on Wednesday, May 13th at 10:00 AM at the museum. Training will begin in June and continue through the summer.
Fill out this interest form if you'd like to learn more about being a Museum of Making Music volunteer. We look forward to hearing from you!
