Museum Fieldtrip Program

Museum Fieldtrip Program

The Museum's Fieldtrip Programs take guests on a musical exploration of the people, historical events and innovations that influenced music making and musical instruments. Led by a trained facilitator, students embark on creative thinking adventure through the instruments on display, sound and video clips, and an interactive activity. Field trips are open to students of all ages and tours are customized based upon grade level or group need.

Throughout the museum, scouts will learn about the history of American popular music and become familiar with the different instruments as well as important events and people in the history of making music. In conjunction with the tour, scouts earn a special badge and fulfill a number of requirements towards earning their respective music-related badges.

Title One Fieldtrip
Title One Fieldtrip

The Museum is committed to reaching students from low-income areas who may not be receiving music education in the classroom. The Title One Fieldtrip program reaches schools that serve these students. This initiative, for third grade classes from qualifying Title One designated schools, provides field trips through the Museum at no charge.  Does my school qualify?

Does my school qualify?

To qualify for the museum's Title One Fieldtrip program, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Your elementary school is designated as a Title 1 school by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • You teach third grade.

Your school is part of one of the following districts:

  • Carlsbad, Encinitas, Escondido, Fallbrook, Oceanside, San Marcos, or Vista

While we wish we could welcome all students to the Museum at no charge, our funding limits the number of students that can participate. By limiting the program to third grade, we can impact a new group of students each year. The selected districts are located in North San Diego County and are in close proximity to the Museum. If you do not meet the above criteria you are still welcome to book a field trip with your own transportation and will receive a group admission rate.
