Because of Kids Free in October, an access program organized by the San Diego Museum Council, October is one of the best months to be a kid in San Diego. All month long, kids twelve and under get into more than sixty of San Diego's museums, historic sites, aquariums, and gardens for free with a paid adult admission. The Museum of Making Music is proud to be one of them.
Getting started is easy: families can download Kids Free coupons from the San Diego Museum Council's website and bring the coupon to the museum. The offer runs from October 1 through October 31, and coupons cannot be combined with other offers or discounts. Free admission is available for up to two children (ages twelve and under) with each paid adult admission. Balboa Park Explorer Passes, City Pass, and Go San Diego Passes do not count as a paid adult admission for this promotion.
Kids Free in October is one of our favorite times of year. It brings families through our doors who may have never visited before, and we think that there is something special about watching guests of all ages discover that they are allowed to touch the instruments in MoMM’s interactive areas. Encouraging visitors to try their hand at a new instrument or to learn more about a familiar one aligns with our mission to support music making in diverse ways.
We are grateful to the San Diego Museum Council for putting this program together each year, and to First 5 San Diego, the Prebys Foundation, the City of San Diego Cultural Affairs Department, the County of San Diego, and the California Arts Council for making it possible. Programs like this keep museums accessible to families across the region, and they remind us how lucky we are to be part of such a strong museum community.
