Yuko Mabuchi is representative of the new generation of young international artists who have chosen the jazz genre as a means of expression. She started playing classical piano at age of four, in her hometown of Fukui, Japan. As a teenager, she was fascinated by American R&B, hip-hop and blues, and, after hearing the music of Oscar Peterson and Herbie Hancock she fell in love with jazz. After high school, she entered the AN Music School in Kyoto to study jazz piano under Kunihiro Kameda.
In 2010, Yuko arrived in Los Angeles to study at the Music Performance Academy. While studying in LA she had the opportunity to showcase her talent at some of LA’s top venues. After returning to Japan in 2013 she continued to perform full time. She now returns to the U.S. to promote her newest CD of original compositions, “My Life.”
