Grammy Award winner, two-time Emmy nominee, and co-founder of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Dom Flemons has spent two decades earning his title as "The American Songster." A multi-instrumentalist, music scholar, and historian based in the Chicago area, Flemons' repertoire covers over a hundred years of American roots music — from country, folk, and bluegrass to blues and gospel. He is considered an expert player on the banjo, guitar, harmonica, jug, quills, fife, and rhythm bones, and recently received an Honorary Doctorate from Northern Arizona University.

Dom Flemons & The Traveling Wildfires is a new Black string band supergroup launched in 2025, inspired by the legacy of Arnold Shultz — the African American musician who influenced Bill and Charlie Monroe — and modeled on the rotating-cast tradition of Monroe's Bluegrass Boys. The band delivers high-energy shows drawing from Flemons' Grammy-nominated albums Black Cowboys and Traveling Wildfire alongside fan favorites, reaching into the heart of every American roots genre from bluegrass and country to blues and string band music.
