The Museum of Making Music would like to take pause to remember John King—husband and father, musician, educator and historian and a generous friend to the ukulele community—who passed away on April 3, 2009. It is an understatement to say that he was an expert on the history of the ukulele and its cousin the machete. Nearly all of the content on this online exhibition was researched and reviewed by John. Without his contributions, this online exhibition might not have realized its full potential.
We would like express our sincere gratitude to John, and our deepest condolences to his family. It was our honor to have known him and to see firsthand his passion for music. A memorial guestbook has been established on legacy.com by Geoff Rezek. Please feel encouraged to view and sign it here.
