Renovation Week 3: We've got the blues?

Created on Friday, June 24, 2011 - 3:20 pm
Written by B.J. Morgan, Museum Staff

As promised, the painters have begun initial work on putting color back into Gallery 5. The gallery will feature two shades of a beautifully rich blue.  Photos can't really do the quality of the paint justice.  Additionally, Museum Executive Director Carolyn Grant and Jillian, our Education Manager, traveled to the Academy Studios headquarters in Novato, California, where they were able to drop off items the AS team needed for fabrication process.  They were also able to see the new interactive elements in their early production phases which we share here in this week's Renovation Project blog post!

In addition to the first coats of paint, lighting and soffits were installed into the special exhibition, the room that will house the "brains" of the new interactives and multimedia elements has been established from the remains of the our former audio-visual closet.  As a result of this change, the trio of sliding glass cases has been reduced to a pair of cases that will be the future focus of modern innovations.

In Novato, we were able to get the first look at the interactive elements, the breakthrough instruments, as well as the new multimedia elements that will be the focus of the history of the music industry and honor our Gallery Sponsors.

Next week, expect to see carpeting!
