Museum of Making Music
Welcome to the Museum Blog

Greetings everyone!

Implementing a blog for the Museum of Making Music has been discussed, poked, prodded, mulled, considered and formulated for some time by our staff.  It seems appropriate now—on the cusp of our 10th anniversary—that we are inspired to launch the Museum Blog as a means to further propel ourselves forward as an organization.

We would like this blog to serve as an additional source of information regarding the histories that are told here at the Museum of Making Music, the observations that we make on the music, innovation and cultural climate of the present with that of the past, and the day-to-day development and evolution of the Museum of Making Music from the perspective of the staff in hopes that it will engage the participation of the public through your comments and feedback.

We hope that you enjoy this blog and that it is a source of information, insight and engagement!

Thanks so much for putting on the Scott Ainslie Concert/lecture last Sunday at
the Dove Auditorium. It was absolutely amazing.

I'm really looking forward to the show by David Borden of Mother Mallard's
Portable Masterpiece Company. I think it's the first time he's ever performed on
the West Coast (to my knowledge). As a fan or classic Moog synthesizer music,
Mother Mallard are one of the cool "unknown" bands I found through Moog
history. Their music is kinda cool - in that it's not "dated" like some
synth bands - it was abstract enough and unique enough not to copy the hits of
the time - so it sounds cool and still current now. Hope to see many people at
the show - and the exhibit before it leaves!
