Everyday at the Museum of Making Music, visitors are given the opportunity to experience the presence of music in their lives, and to consider the impact of music upon our world.
The presence of music takes us back to the memories and milestones of our lives. Music reminds us of that carefree summer, the first dance of a couple newly married, or the loss of a loved one. It takes us back to ninth-grade band class, to the intensity of our first live concert, or to the gentle feeling of a life well lived. But music reaches much further. It is an integral part of who we are as human beings, and how we interact with each other. Music allows us to communicate on a level much deeper than words. It helps us express our emotions in a peaceful yet powerful way, and allows us to map our diverse history. Music affects us as individuals, yes, but also as a generation, a culture, and indeed, as a global society.
