Everyday's a Musicpalooza at the Museum of Making Music! Girl Scout
Summer Camp, especially designed for current Girl Scouts entering grades 2 - 6, celebrates and explores more than 100 years of music
history as the scouts will create their own instruments, listen to tons
of great sounds and get hands-on experience with loads of instruments
from organs to ukuleles.
On
Friday, August 6, 2010 at 7 PM, the Museum presents its Local Flavor
Concert Series featuring charismatic acoustic folk duo Berkley Hart. Tickets are $10 and include beverages and pizza generously sponsored by Stone
Brewing and Knockout Pizza.
At 2 PM, the Museum of Making Music presents a
unique workshop focousing on music and wellness for families. Discover how music can
benifit your family lifestyle, communication skills, and overall health
and
well-being. This workshop is free, though a $5 suggested donation is greatly appreciated.
North
Coast Strings is a musical ensemble designed to be an entry point for
adults who want to learn how to play a stringed instrument, or for
those who have played a stringed instrument in the past but haven’t
played in a number of years. The orchestra is hosted by the Museum of
Making Music. The North Coast Strings Summer Concert is at 3 PM on Sunday, August 8. Free!
On Saturday, August 14 at 7 PM, the Museum of Making Music and the
Carlsbad City Library present Grammy winning artists, Cindy
Cashdollar and Dave Alvin, for a performance
celebrating contemporary American roots music. Tickets are $10. This concert takes place at the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium at the Carlsbad City (Dove) Library.
At 7 PM, the Museum invites digital musician Chris Warren for a performance, demonstration and discussion of unique digital effects that expand the sonic
possibilities of the instrument. Tickets are $10; $7 for Museum members.
The Museum's 10th Anniversary Celebration Series
continues on Friday, September 10 at 7 PM with a concert by Brazilian Composer, guitarist and vocalist Chico Pinheiro.
At 7 PM, composer and poet Steve Willard guides a participating audience in interactive performances featuring voice,
electronic and acoustic instruments, and stompboxes from the
exhibition. Audience members will help to collaboratively compose a
short piece for the assembled group. Tickets are $10, $7 for Museum members.
