Joli Ann Leichtag Elementary School Partnership

The music program at Joli Ann Leichtag Elementary School is a unique multi-year museum /school partnership that seeks to provide a systemic music education to the 800+ students at the school. The program features weekly music instruction, lessons in music history, and hands-on experience with dozens of instruments.

Title One School Tour Program

This initiative was developed to engage children from economically disadvantaged families by bringing third grade students from Title 1 schools to the Museum at no charge. Participating classes receive free bus transportation, a Museum tour, and a facilitator-led drum circle.

North Coast Strings

North Coast Strings is a musical ensemble designed to be an entry point for adults who want to learn how to play a stringed instrument, or for those who have played a stringed instrument in the past but haven’t played in a number of years.  The orchestra is hosted by the Museum of Making Music. The North Coast Strings Summer Concert is at 3 PM on Sunday, August 8. Free!

North Coast New Horizons Band

The national New Horizons Band program was developed by professor Roy Ernst of the Eastman School of Music in 1991. The program offers adults, primarily people who are over 50, the chance to learn how to play a concert band instrument and perform with other beginning musicians. The program has introduced thousands of older adults, retirees, and seniors to the joys and benefits of music making.
