The Museum of Making Music welcomes Peter Sprague's Bop Moderno, a quintet playing Peter's modern bop arrangements featuring Gilbert Castellanos on trumpet and including guest artists Tripp Sprague on saxophone and flute, bassist Gunnar Biggs, and Duncan Moore on drums.

Peter and Gilbert have lived in San Diego for a long time and have only played together a few times. "I love his music!" says Peter, "and I'm thrilled to have a situation to work on some tunes together." This band will embrace the classic sound of trumpet and tenor sax carrying the melodies over the foundation of a cooking rhythm section.

Peter Sprague

Peter Sprague is a San Diego jazz favorite and a nationally recognized musician. Official nods to Sprague's work include Best Jazz Artist award from the San Diego Music Awards and the San Diego Reader. He has played with jazz legends such as Chick Corea, Hubert Laws, Charlie Haden, David Benoit, and others. His career includes work as a composer, transcriber, author, producer, and more. He currently runs his own recording studio, Spragueland, in Leucadia.
