Blue Mountain Mule

bmmBlue Mountain Mule is a dynamic and interpretive acoustic band made up of guitar, upright bass, banjo and mandolin.  Their progressive playing style is influenced by bluegrass, roots & blues, folk rock and more! The music is full of drive, intricate musicianship and three and four part vocal harmonies.  They put their own spin on tunes by artists like Tracy Chapman, Tony Rice and Peter Rowan and throw in traditional and original music too. Their music can be described as percussive, bluesy, edgy and most of all fresh and interesting.

Individual members of the band have been in the music business for many years, performing at festivals, concerts and music venues throughout the Western states including California, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Nevada.  Recently, they've come together with their diverse playing interests to create the band Blue Mountain Mule.

The band gets its name by way of the bass player, Sharron, who owns and rides a (HUGE) 17 hand draft mule from Blue Mountain, CA.  Mules are notorious for being tough, smart, inventive, honest, loyal and curious characters!  They will work hard and long.  When you are on the back of this Monster Mule you can see from Canada to Mexico and if you have the time she will take you there!  She can really cover ground when she is on the move. Sounded like a good band name and description of what we want to do.

Brian Friend plays guitar.  Steve Dame is on the banjo and fiddle. Russ Evans plays mandolin and Sharron Evans thumps the big bass.  As a band they cover lots of ground, work long and hard and are always on the move to turn a tune into something that is their own.  Finding ways to make this combination of instruments tell an original story and work together in a driving force is what the band is all about.
