On Friday, August 2nd, 2013, the Museum of Making Music welcomes back Mr. Gregory Page for a very special Local Flavor Concert Series event. The Local Flavor series spotlights Southern California artists in an intimate concert setting with local food and beverages generously provided by Stone Brewing Company, Flippin' Pizza, and Knockout Pizza.
The unique English born Irish/Armenian musician creates oddly compelling songs that are full of cinematic melodies. A songwriter, crooner & astronaut, Gregory Page creates a dreamy atmosphere of 1920's jazz, French romanticism, blues and folk music. His nostalgia-drenched melodies, vintage vocals and dusty blues rhymes take you back to simpler times.
"Gregory Page is a masterful lyricist who makes beautiful music. His voice is like Chet Baker. His music – a mixture of jazz, music from the 1920s and a certain folklore translated into the 21st Century, – always contains a trace of melancholy. A careful observer of everyday realities, he fashions his songs with sensitivity and humour, revealing a great craftsmanship." ~ Review in Vrije Geluiden (Dutch publication).
"His songs are written for a dance floor that now exists only in fantasy: cigar smoke around the candelabra, a jazz combo in the corner, and a young couple dancing with their eyes closed". ~ De Pers (The Netherlands)
"Neat in a suit – hat in one hand, glass of red wine in the other, Gregory Page's music is a direct reference to the nightclub jazz of the thirties and forties." ~ Review in deStentor Magazine (The Netherlands)
"A true '30's crooner ... Close your eyes and you're eighty years back in time!" ~ Written In Music Magazine (The Netherlands)
"Gregory Page is a musical time traveler, who shoots back a century with the greatest of ease. His old carbon microphone is his time capsule.... transporting his listeners with his nostalgia-drenched romantic melodies. Page's music is a mixture of jazz, music from the 1920s, French romanticism, blues and folk music – all translated into today". ~ NRC Magazine (The Netherlands)
"Page has really gone & done it. This time he strikes up the band like a jazz cigarette with this terrific new album "Shine, Shine, Shine" ~ Jason Mraz (Two time Grammy Award winning friend)
"Gregory is a great American songwriter whose work I love" ~ Judy Collins (Legendary Folksinger)
