North Coastal New Horizons Band

The national New Horizons Band program was developed by professor Roy Ernst of the Eastman School of Music in 1991. The program offers adults, primarily people who are over 50, the chance to learn how to play a concert band instrument and perform with other beginning musicians. The program has introduced thousands of older adults, retirees, and seniors to the joys and benefits of music making. The local North Coastal New Horizons Band is the Carlsbad affiliate of the National program.

Fall Rehearsal Schedule
The band rehearses at the Museum of Making Music on Wednesday evenings from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

About the Director:

Allison Hargis has been with the North Coastal NHB for several years, and recently became the sole director of the group. Allison received her Music Education Degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas (hence the charming accent) and a Masters in Educational Administration from USIU. Allison is primarily a flute player, although she also play a mean tuba. Allison is a "Mompreneur," and has two great kids who are budding violinists. Directing the New Horizons Band is a real treat for her, and a great way to spend a Wednesday night.
